Here is information on some software that manages the time zone difficulties. I have not used it, but was contemplating doing so at a client I was working with. I make no recommendations one way or the other.

Following is information and contact for the TimeZone400 product.
PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NEW VERSION for IBM iSeries
GOING INTERNATIONAL with IBM iSeries, SOLVE TIMEZONE ISSUES:
INPRO International Inc., an IBM eServer Proven Partner in Development,
announces TimeZoNe/400 (TZN/400) for IBM iSeries Version 6.1.0
(TimeZoNe/400 Simulation Utility) is a Timezone tool that allows you to
override the time based on the differential between the users timezone
and the systems timezone, including support for automatic rules driven
Daylight Savings Time(DST) all around the world. All this without costly
LPAR support. The DDS/RPG/COBOL/ILE/Query/SQL called routines for TIME &
DATE will now look to your users timezone offset. Takes the effort out of
rewriting 9,000 modules or expensive LPAR support.
ADVANTAGES
   * Works at the Object Level so no recompiling etc. involved.
   * One place to override timezone/DST functions at the User level,
huge advantage over UNIX where every program must know.
   * No additional iSeries LPARs needed
   * Will run on Security Level 40 systems
TimeZoNe/400
Price: $2,995
Requires our timeCALendar/2000 Product also.

Thanks to all who have responded with information. We are using a
separate XA environment for the UK facility but in the same iSeries
partition. Using a separate partition is not an option.

Using the Locale has worked well for changing the date format in green
screen and using the regional setting in Windows worked well for
PowerLink. The time difference is where I have run into a road block.
No matter how I set the tzdiff function in the locale the time displayed
is always the local US time.

Doug,

Jeff and Roger are correct with the information they provided. We have
accomplished this as we have several UK XA environments on a US based
iSeries. Or you can make three modifications to execute in a UK
environment to manage this difference and to be able to run applications
in European dates format.

The details are:
1) AXZPRD program needs to be modified to use European dates
2) Each UK user profile executes a specific initial program that changes
the job date format as DMY (day/month/year)
3) Y2DTFMA data area has been changed as DMY

Unfortunately these three changes are not enough to cover all XA
applications, because some of them still use the system date format, as
order entry application that calls AMZCPU5C program that could end
abnormally. You could change AMZCPU5C program in order to manage *JOB
date format instead of *SYSTEM date format. For the client
applications, using a terminal server may be the best way as you should
be able to set the server configuration for Euro date formatting. If
you have any other question, feel free to contact me offline.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] AS/400 Locale

I am working on a project to bring up a site we have in the UK on our US
based MAPICS system.

Our AS/400 resides in the US Eastern Time Zone. When UK users sign on
I'd like the presented time to be their local time, along with other
things.

I've implemented a LOCALE and have been able to change the date format
and some other things. But in the LC_TOD section the TZDIFF functions
doesn't effect the time being presented to the user. Has anyone done
this?

Thanks

Doug
