Kevin, We're on XAR5.5 and haven't done a PCM in 10 years and have a lot of custom code. Clearly we're in for a lot of work if and when we choose to upgrade. I'm curious as to whether you think there's going to be a point where there's a release where an upgrade for us would be exponentially more work than it is now, given what you said about l level back and all. Put simply, nothing's impossible, as I've heard there are still shops on DB; but how long can we hold out without digging ourselves into a very deep hole? Otto Going to R7.8 is actually quite easy because of the new tools. It's a problem with applying PTF's at ANY existing level because the PCM's are not frequent enough. As R7.7 will go end of life with R7.9 (R9)..they will issue a final PCM shortly. So it's not a new problem. Just one that was exacerbated by the XA group's decision to support R5, R6 and all versions of R7. That problem has been rectified with the announcement to return to a sane policy (which it has always been) of support current and 1 back level release. You should be certain to bear in mind when planning next year that with the release of R9 (R7.9) in March/April...R7.8 becomes the 1 level back and all previous versions go end of life.
