7.8 User Exits How-To

Whats the best material to read to learn how to implement User Exits for Power-Link 7.8???
For $150.00 I found a manual titled 
"R7.8 Creating and Maintaining User Exits, Attributes, Code Files and Defaults (IDF)" 
Will this manual help?? Oher than that there is only Power Point slide presentation of what it can do, 
I really  learn how to do it.
