They best way to do this is with System-Link (web services).

It should take about 1 hour to setup, but then it runs like the wind and has built in security without the overhead of ODBC, etc.

The next best way to export large files to excel is to save as a file first, comma delimited works best and then open in excel. You may have to parse the table, but you can save your settings so that you don't have to do it on an ongoing basis.
