Weston Most all of the barcode printers and software to run these printers on the market today would be capable of printing your 4x4 tag that you are looking for. These printers typically can do direct thermal, or thermal transfer by flipping a switch either on the printer, or software. If you used a direct thermal tag, your costs would be lower in the short run, but you would have to replace the printhead on the printer sooner. Because this tag is direct thermal, heat/sun light will affect the tag over time. If this tag has a short life cycle of a few days, then this should not be a concern. A thermal transfer tag material would be good if you are going to have something sit on the shelf, or use outside and would hold up well in these conditions especially if you were to use a Poly material for outside use. The cost of the tag material and the ribbon/film would cost more, but there would be saving in the long run on print head replacement too. The benefit of using a barcode printer is that you can produce the exact quantity that you need verses a laser, which you have to use one sheet and there would be a waste factor involved The size of tag that you want to use is common, but not a stock item. If you were to use a 4x3, 4x6, or 4x6.5 size they would be able to ship out same day. The 4x4 size would take 2-3 weeks. Hope this gives you some help in choosing a printer for your needs. Hello all. We run Paperless MDCC as our shop floor reporting and tracking system. My question is: What type of printers are people using to print the move tickets? Since the move ticket is only 4 by 4, would a Zebra type printer work? Thanks _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (MAPICS-L) mailing list To post a message email: MAPICS-L-Zwy7GipZuJhWk0Htik3J/[email protected] To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/mapics-l or email: MAPICS-L-request-Zwy7GipZuJhWk0Htik3J/[email protected] Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/mapics-l.
