Powerlink response is both client and server.  Moving up to Windows 7 ENT is
a good start, but you need to look at the server side.

Operating System:
OS 7 is faster than 6 which is faster than 5.  The Java resource in release
7 is particularly helpful.

Disk:
For optimum disk performance, install 17 to 20 percent solid state disk.
This change made a large difference for us.  SSD has come down in price
substantially but does require a SSD controller.  For us, that meant filling
a complete server tray.  We initially loaded the operating system internals
on the SSD but OS release 7 has an option to manage the "hot" database
tables auto-magically for you.

Memory:
Powerlink requires loads of memory due to the Java Virtual Machine
environment(s).  We quadrupled memory to avoid as much paging as possible.

Any of these improvements will help, but all three are the winning
combination.

Does anybody have any tips and tricks on how to improve Powerlink R9
response time?  We recently upgraded to Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit running
on 8GB, 1600mhz computers.    There were very slight improvements but not
much to my expectations.
