I have to ask 'why ?' when the iSeries already has TMKMAKE, which is a fairly complete 'make' utility and handles all the iSerise languages; dependencies; only builds what's changed; handles ILE (binding directories, *modules, *srvpgms; etc.

TMKMAKE uses script files (just regular pf-src mbrs) and so changes to any build sequence does not involve a recompile of the TMKMAKE tool - just change the script mbr and go.

And for Java, there is Ant.
