Well, that explains a lot.

I always wondered why name one Bic and the other Cadillac.

But if Cadillac was originally Mont Blanc, that makes sense. The cheap one is a cheap pen, and the expensive one is an expensive pen.

They probably saw that Mont Blanc was nothing more than a Bic with chromed plastic, therefore more of a Cadillac (arr arr arr)
