Preparing H1000 for storage / infrequent use

Hi,

I apologise if this has been covered before - I searched the archives and
elsewhere on google before posting :)

I have an OMP H1000, with no charger and regular button cell and AAA
batteries.

I want to make sure when it’s stored or unused for long periods of time
that the batteries don’t leak.

I’m not worried about data loss.

Is it possible to just remove the batteries and leave the MessagePad
without power for long periods of time? Will that cause any issues when
powering it back on in the future?
