Lots of brain cells have succumbed to age since then, but I seem to remember that while I had Claris Works, I also had access to Microsoft Office, which I used mostly, since I also used Office at work. IIRC, at the time any sort of DB app from Microsoft was almost useless and expensive, so I stuck with FileMaker for any of my small DB projects. That stopped when Claris ‘upgraded’ the package, unbundling FM, and requiring you to purchase a much more expensive version of FileMaker Pro. Like you, I switched most of that stuff to a spreadsheet. But then again, I don’t have any heavy duty database needs. I could use it, but since Excel has become the be-all, end-all to spreadsheets, I guess I’d just use it. :-( Gene Beaird, Pearland, Texas > On Jul 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM, [email protected] wrote: > > Message: 1 > Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2019 09:16:37 -0700 > From: Dennis Swaney <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [NTLK] Autoserver: Tweet from @bryanstearns > Message-ID: > <CAAgWJmDxBimnn=F6=-zFG_8MWVeO3U0gYx0LKx4tfcC5+_MFfA@mail.gmail.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" > > But at least ClarisWorks was an integrated package complete with (list > courtesy of Wikipedia): > > > - a word processor <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word_processor>, which > in version 6 also includes an equation editor > <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_editor> based on MathType > <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MathType> > - a drawing program, > - a painting program, > - a spreadsheet <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spreadsheet>, > - a database <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database> program, > - a terminal program <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_program> > for communications (up to version 5), and > - a presentation program (in version 6). > > Its replacement was (and STILL is) a bundle of 3 separate applications > covering word processing, spreadsheet and presentation that are not tightly > integrated.
