OK, yes, it is a known bug in Python 2.0, apparently.

I put in what I *think* is a valid workaround (the problem
only arises with Unicode strings, which are what the XML
parser produces...), and here are the before and after
timings for a reveal-already-done run:

% time arkpkg reveal --verbose --hosts=. textutils--2.0.11
8.59s user 0.32s system 91% cpu 9.697 total

% time arkpkg reveal --verbose --hosts=. textutils--2.0.11
0.72s user 0.14s system 92% cpu 0.929 total
