Harlan asks: > Has anybody looked at Ganymede? <http://www.arlut.utexas.edu/gash2/> ? Well, I peeked. It's a GPL'd "portable and customizable network directory management system", predating LDAP and which I expect has had some of the wind taken out of its sails by LDAP. However, it allows for "local intelligence", e.g. "if person X is in class Y they should be on mailing-list Z", which is cool. Personally, I quite liked FAQ #2 :-) 2. Great! Then I can just jump right in and use it, right? Um, no. Ganymede itself is an extensible and customizable system that can do a tremendous amount for you, but right now it is not an 'out-of-the-box' admin package. Incidentally, on things like this, feel free to check in an entry into ARK/webpages/related.htma. (I've got a "Ganymede" entry queued up) Will
