recent CVS updates ("running ARK backwards")

Folks, the dull roar of CVS updates to SourceForge continue;
please yell if my "free and easy" method is causing you
grief.  (Generally, the "standard" ARK stuff should just
keep working.)

I'm pretty far along on getting the "un"code working; I
kinda like typing

   ark package uneverything samba--2.2.2

Will say a bit more (and maybe just for idle sport, type
some documentation) when it's a little further along.

(Jonathan: I may have fixed the performance bug that you
were seeing.)
