Have a look at sidai/package-utils/arkbase-update ; the
important thing is that ARKPKG is set to run from the new
source; the 'arkpkg' script I keep around for this purpose
is below.

Run some near equivalent to that to update the ARK core on
all hosts.

(Sorry, I didn't know you were to the
installed-and-mustn't-bust-things stage :-( )
