recent gcc build?

I'm building gcc 3.4.4 on solaris, using the sidai/gcc.xml template. I haven't looked at this enough to be really sure -- but it looks to me like the whack to put the -R flag into the specs file isn't actually accomplishing the intent. (The specs file that is deployed does have the appropriate -R string in it, but gcc -dumpspecs doesn't -- and the behaviour is that something it builds it can't find libgcc.so.) Does this ring any bells with anyone? (If not, don't spend a bunch of time on it; certainly possible that I have done something dumb...!)
