Autoconf macro to integrate GNU gold

Hey list,

I've checked the Autoconf archive and I didn't see any M4 macros for
anything to do with GNU gold, such as finding and integrating it into
the build environment if available and enabled.

Has anyone already implemented such a thing? I would imagine this must
be a common enough pattern by now that maybe there should be an
addition to the macro archive.
