Follow-up Comment #3, sr #110554 (group autoconf):
Plan for this bug:
- Put out Autoconf 2.73 (planned for no later than end of Feb 2026)
- *Immediately* afterward, add AC_PROG_AWK to the set of macros
unconditionally run by AC_INIT; change config.status to use $AWK
instead of blindly invoking bare 'awk' (this change is desirable
for several other reasons)
- Possibly, make AC_PROG_AWK reject Solaris 10 /usr/bin/awk as too limited.
- Patch in this bug can then be reapplied.
