Marc,

Is there anything else in the XferError log file?  Ie, is it transferring
lots of files, but BackupPC doesn't think there are any, or does it stall
before transferring anything?

What versions of smbclient and BackupPC are you running?  Smbclient has
changed its output relatively frequently, and BackupPC needs to see certain
strings to count files etc.

And what is $Conf{SmbClientFullCmd} set to?
