That was very helpful, thank you. I've now pushed some changes, and will await developments. AFAICT the people who are using this stuff know what they need to do, and this is more about avoiding patches in packaged distributions than about fixing things in the "experimental" metrics feature. The Github Web interface continues to cause multiple problems for me. If anyone has comments or requests about metrics or their presentation via JSON, Prometheus or RSS please reply in this thread rather than in any of the Github issues/PRs.
