Hi,
For the ones using the --alter=no-case option ("-an" in short) for
their backups, pay attention to the following point if you use release
2.4.16:
When saving files that use wide characters of another locale than the
one dar is running with (see LANG environment variable), these files
may be signaled as "Invalid wide-char found in string:".
while this wide-char interpretation of filenames is only done to
compare them against filters when case insensitive comparison is used
(--alter=no-case option) --- filename are saved as is in any case ---
such interpreted invalid wide-char leads the backup of that file to be
skipped (reported as "filesystem error" in the summary at end of backup).
I'm about to fix that to fallback to case sensitive comparison in that
situation, operation which does not require wide-char interpretation
of filenames.
In the meanwhile, if you use --alter=no-case option, pay attention to
the locale dar is running as (setting the LANG environment variable
accordingly to your need) in particular when running dar in scripts
from cron/fcron/anacron.
Sorry for inconveniences,
Cheers,
Denis Corbin.
