Having it as an option is basically a good idea, but it does create yet another
option.

I disagree. I automatically make a backup once in a while to an external hard
drive, but I also occasionally burn it to DVD. Selecting which slices go to
which DVD is done by hand. I could automate that, but in my opinion, you
should still be able to list the files correctly for any number of things you
want to do with it.
