Most likely I will try both procedures (using your script, and "make uninstall") just for learning purposes.  I was always under the impression that tarball installs were complex and didn't provide an easy way to uninstall.  I know the install part is quite simple, and it looks as if the uninstall is easy as well.  Who needs RPMs anyway! :)

configure the Makefile (for DAR version 1.x.x) with the same parameters 
and do a

	make uninstall

If this does not work you can try this trick:

remake the same installation but changing the destination directory to 
someting like /tmp/A

then run the attached script giving /tmp/A as first argument and the 
directory where you have installed dar as second argument (but have a 
look at the script first, I have commented out the two last lines for 
you undestand what it does). You really need to understand what the 
script does before using it, if you are not sure, first make a backup of 
you system (with DAR, for example ;-) ).
