What I mean, is if you want to restore a directory why wouldn't you
restore the given directory and its contents directly for dar archive,
rather than making an intermediate tar archive from where you will be
able to restore the given directory.

if you base your webmin module on dar, you don't neither here control
the software people have on their PC. Moreover, if you don't controle
the software people have on their PC, how can you know they will have
tar while you assume they will have dar and use it for backup ? ;-)

I don't know the tar format, and I have not the time to make such a
tool, I prefer adding features and fixing bugs to dar. Hope you'll
understand.
