more questions, this time about exclude_dir mask

This question is about the exclude_dir mask. Does this implicitly exclude directories? Thus like this: -- foo foo/bar foo/baz this this/other that -- exlude_dir "foo" --> this this/other that -- Or do you have to and a not mask to turn an inclusion into an exclusion? Thus not_mask ( exclude_dir "foo" ) Would do the previous?
