You can use all filtering features (-P, -g, -X, -I, ...) which can each
receive a glob expression or if preceded by -ar a regular expression
with the listing operation of dar:

dar -l backup -I "*.txt"
dar -l backup -ar -I '.*\.txt$'

For dar_manager you are correct, there is no such way to search the
database, your idea is interesting and I add it to todo list.

In the meanwhile, you can still list the whole database content to a
file and apply egrep/grep to it with regular expression.

dar_manager -B base.dmd -u 0 > listing.txt
egrep "regex" listing.txt
