OK, understood. Maybe the binary delta feature could have been very
interesting in that context (see --delta option), though it would have
required to compute the delta signature of the original backup first, to
be able to greatly reduce the size of the last backup using binary delta.

Now, seen the context you are in, making a new full backup stays the
simplest solution, as we already concluded.
