the fact fsync/fdatasync failed and the reason reported by the operating
system is "Input/output error" means you have a problem with the disk
where have been written the slices.

The fact the backup is fine does not mean it has been written properly
down to the disk, in particular if some blocks are still pending for
writing, the backup will read the corresponding pending block from
memory, so the backup test may seem fine, but if you reboot the system,
the result could be quite different.
