To give a little update:

is still important :)

I have to make -d (see below) and -V more consequent, after that is
done, I doubt it if a second -V will add any needed details...

is addded. Also a %g is given to the pre/post run scripts, which is
expanded to the current group. However this is only done when 'group'
is defined in the config file.

I've done something else. A -d (--dryrun) option is added, which 
will show what will be done - but nothing really is.
hdup already says what archives are used when restoring, with this
swith you can get this list without actually running hdup. (will
requiring some awk-ing to parse the output, but stillo usefull IMO).

I will post a "beta" to the list in a few days so that people can
test some stuff and let me know if there are some issues,

If somebody wants to test it _now_, let me know offlist,
