Great tool (hdup)! One stumbling block though...

Hi Miek,

I just downloaded and have been testing hdup. What a great idea!
I have hit one stumbling block though, that I believe is an issue with
tar, and I was wondering if perhaps you knew a way to solve this.

I have two HD's in my machine. One has Linux and the other Windows
XP. I use the former OS and my wife the latter. In addition to various
directories under Linux, I want to back up the following directory under
windows :

/mnt/windows/Documents and Settings

All of our documents and email and account settings apparently are
stored under here. The kicker is that hdup (and I think the issue is
really with tar) doesn't like the following listing :

dir = /etc, /home, /mnt/windows/Documents\ and\ Settings

The issue is the spaces in the name, of course. I tried surrounding
the directory name with ' and " but no luck. The error message I
receive is as follows :

%> hdup monthly <hostname>
hdup: <hostname>: STARTING BACKUP.
/bin/tar: /mnt/windows/Documents\\ and\\ Settings: Warning: Cannot stat:
No such file or directory
/bin/tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
/bin/tar: /mnt/windows/Documents\\ and\\ Settings: Warning: Cannot stat:
No such file or directory

Any ideas?

Regards,

Carter
