It is done from my 'root' crontab and shows this as in the crontab;-

# --- start of new backup season --- #
00 02 1 * * /usr/local/bin/hdup monthly gads.hill
# --- the weekly --- #
00 04 1,7,14,21,28 * * /usr/local/bin/hdup weekly gads.hill
# --- the daily --- #
00 06 1-31 * * /usr/local/bin/hdup daily gads.hill
