ah, that makes sense. But then the fact of encryption remains, but this 
can also be done on a per file basis... hmm....

But I don't want to change the encryption, for compression this _could_ be
done, but would mean that tar file are differently compressed than afio 
files. That's not something you want. So either I

1) change the currently used compression, compress first, then put the file
   in the archive, or
2) compressed the archive after creation - but that would negate the speed
   benefit for afio

I don't want to do 1), because that would mean hdup isn't backward compatible
anymore, and I also have issues with 2)...
