Thanks for catching these.

They are listed in TARGETS automatically by the build tool, and are
generated in the Makefile.  They are included in the tarball for
convenience.

I personally don't like /var/run, but I agree that /tmp is suboptimal.
Is there any kind of standard for named pipes, or other packages to
compare with?  I will note that quite a number of packages already use
/tmp for this purpose (X11, ORBit, gdm, xfs, ssh-agent).

You know, that even makes sense.  I'm not sure why I didn't do it that
way myself.  bcron-update already updates the sched through the trigger,
so changes are scheduled in the next minute after the update.
