IMHO, yes. 2.95 has been around roughly forever and for quite a while was the standard kernel compiler long after 3.x was out, so the few people who may not have it by now, prolly should... ;-) The newer Linux From Scratch (now version 6) books don't even use 2.95 anymore now that 3.3 is stable for kernel compiling.... and if I'm not mistaken, the latest uses 3.4.
