Trouble installing bglibs-1.022 and cvm-0.71

I'm having problems installing 

  bglibs-1.022
  cvm-0.71

on a Gentoo system (I'm not using any of the Gentoo
ebuilds for qmail and friends).

I have exactly the same problems as per
http://lists.untroubled.org/?list=bgware&cmd=showmsg&msgnum=4536

(sorry for starting a new thread but I only just
subscribed)

after running make, neither bglibs nor cvm had these
programs:

  instshow
  installer
  instcheck

With bglibs I did 'make install' and that seemed to
perform an install.

However with cvm, doing 'make install' gives the same
error(s) as the above-mentioned thread:

instlib/instmain.c:20: undefined reference to `outbuf'

I was wondering:

a) why instshow, installer, instcheck are missing
b) assuming I can use 'make install' instead, would
there be an official fix for cvm soon?
