Is qfilter the correct tool for this job ( rewritting a *.local tld name )?

Hello;

I need a tool to rewrite the domain portion of a
sender's e-mail relayed from a LAN side mail server
that uses a *.local tld.

Is qfilter the correct tool for this job ( currently
running qmail+qmail-scanner on a FBSD 4.11 box ), or
is there a better "hammer" for this nail?
