How to insert a formated line in a file

Dear all.
I've using the edit line function with insert_lines. What i need is to 
insert a formated line, like this:

$(bundle.value1)[TAB character]$(bundle.value2)[TAB 
character]$(bundle.value3).

I could do with simple space character, but i don't found how to insert TAB 
in the line.. Like a printf() function in C language.

Someone could help me?
