Agreed, just one domain would be fine, and .org is preferable.

It just sticks in my craw to have the domain held ransom like this,
and to actually *pay* the ransom. But I suppose if we can rally to
raise the money somehow, we might as well do it and not leave it to
chance. The total to raise will be $250 plus $14.95 (the web hosting
company's 1-year renewal cost per domain) plus whatever it costs to
renew for a *second* year at another registrar to get the domain back
under our control. I hope nobody is considering GoDaddy (given their
SOPA support awhile ago); I've had good experiences w/Namecheap and
gandi.net. Any others we should consider?

I saw Michael's generous offer of $20 to support this effort (thanks
for that, Michael). It only seems fair that we establish a "donors"
page on the web site (and include the information in the source
distribution's NEWS or ChangeLog file, assuming these are still
distributed :)) for those donors who don't object to being publicly
thanked for their contributions.

Because ultimately this whole problem stemmed from my own lack of
diligence on keeping watch on the domains and pressing the issue
earlier, I'll contribute $50 myself as well; no need to put my name up
in lights for it either -- I'll call it a "dummy" tax :)

Thanks.
