dual hd44780 displays

I must be overlooking info. I have 2 Noritake CU20045SCPB dispays each 
using the HD44780 chip. I have them both wired winamp style. the EN(pin 
6) for display #1 to pin 1 on parport (nSTRB). The EN for display 2 to 
pin 17 (nSEL)  on parport.Displa #1 displays all 4 rows nicely, but 
nothing on display #2. I switched the EN lines and the display wired to 
nSTRB displays nicely. Yet when I stop LCDd "Thanks for using" appears 
on line four if display #1 and "LCDproc  &" on line #1 of display #2 and 
"Linux !" on line 2 of display #2. is there a way to set up LCDproc to 
use all eight lines. I have 'vspan 4,4' and 'size=20x8' is there 
something I've missed that would enable both displays to show the data?
