Hmmm, I have been looking for historical information and references to auditing (the process of recording activity--as opposed performing an 'audit'), logging, and when/where such things started, stories (both funny and serious), etc... Becuase these search engines have quickly become a common part of the global culture, some light should be shed on their origin. Most people don't know that the origin of these search engines is non-commercial log management and analysis. I had a great book on the history of log analysis but lost over the years. Would anyone know of any good book references with a less technical but more historical flavor?
