Testing for ipv6 support using ipv6 could be problematic, if it is not enabled. Try -h local: and see what the answer is. If pmcd.feature.ipv6 is not enabled, pmcd will not be able to answer at ::1, even if the platform supports it. Now why it would not enabled in that case is another matter.
