Hi Alex,

I'm confused about the definitions of the words "service", "daemon" and
"script", and have been for many years. I know that "daemon" refers to
a process intended to keep running in the background and interacting
with other processes.

What I don't know is the difference between "service" and "daemon", as
well as the distinction you're making between "service" and "script".
