Maybe a dedicated hubTEMS/TEPS with just that agent? The first thing is to make sure the TEMSes and TEPSes and communications are running with spare capacity. When a TEMS gets overloaded, a lot of time can pass before a specific result from an agent turns into an event and then seen by TEPS and then a TEP. The agent itself needs careful control. For example, if it is busy doing a historical data export - no other situation or real time request will be processed. I saw another case with 40 MISSING type situations that was really really slow. Keep all the TEMS/TEPS tasks where there is a lot of spare time - good server capacity and most of the time not doing much. That will give you pretty good event response time. That said - there are no specific controls or measurements toward that end. For long term interaction with R&D - they *should* create a RFE Tivoli Request For Enhancement (RFE) http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21449404 [announcement] http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/tivoli/ That specific issue has not come up [in my experience] but it does sound interesting. Another possibility is to avoid the TEMS/TEPS processing. If the situation formula is simple enough you can use a private situation with the events being transmitted to Omnibus or an SNMP event. That completely eliminates the TEMS/TEPS processing time... Of course you need Omnibus or some other event receiver to get the event. Don't laugh.. :) Sometimes, I can get a situation to post sooner than that between 8, 12 or even 16 seconds. And sometimes that same situation can take over 60 seconds to post. Is there a way to make the agent respond quicker by forcing it with a setting or any performance tuning I can do to the other components? I glady appreciate your ideas and responses.
