Not really practical at the moment. The TEMSes have a 3 minute heartbeat
with a 3 minute grace time added. There are two attempts made to avoid
false detections. At the same time, the remote TEMS need to detect and
switch and if they try too early, they switch back to base. And there are
interior timeouts. And then they have to do full synchronization 3 big
tables. In one case I studied it could take 5-6 minutes just to
synchronize one large TNODELST table.

All in all a fallback naturally takes 20-25 minutes to stabilize.

During startup, the hub TEMS is beaten up pretty badly by the TEPS -
massive spike as they synchronize. The remote TEMS recognize a
reconnection and have to synchronize 3 large tables and that takes quite a
while as above.

At shutdown, two major issues were resolved at ITM 622 FP3/FP4 but it
still isn't fast. The fixes involved not accepting new work. One oddity,
it can take 10+ minutes for a hub TEMS to shutdown on Linux/Unix but on
Windows it is often 3-5 minutes,

So 1 minute targets... you need a 10-20 times improvement and that is not
likely to happen unless there is some concerted Development activity. So
open a RFE and start pushing Sales:

Subject: [TME10] TEMS Startup and Shutdown Timing
Sent by: [email protected]

Hello All,

Just had to ask this question. I know most of you will ask, "why"?
However, I have to check to make sure it can't/can be done. I've checked
the config files for the TEMS and don't see where I can make the TEMS
cycle or failover faster than 60 seconds.

Has anyone configured a TEMS to shutdown, startup or failover faster than
60 seconds?
