Hi,

I do not use jhylafax but rather yajhfc from http://www.yajhfc.de. If jhylafax is not a strict requirement (does not seem to have any development on it since 2009), yajhfc does the job and is being actively maintained. I have it running with various customers for years without any problems.
It is also a Java client for Hylafax. Works on various Linux distros, windows and Mac. Well documented and the maintainer answers questions....

Maybe you can have a look at it.

Good luck
