You have to edit /var/spool/hylafax/bin/notify or, preferably, do what 
you need in /var/spool/hylafax/etc/FaxNotify so that you don't need to 
alter bin/notify.

Alternatively, you could create your own notify script and point faxq at 
it in /var/spool/hylafax/etc/config with NotifyCmd.
