How to make a local file show up as received fax?

I am wondering if there is a way to make a pdf file in
/var/spool/hylafax/recvq show up as a received fax? Years ago I wrote code
for us to process and achive the files in faxes and it would be much easier
to push local pdfs or (tiffs) to the local hylafax server and process them
that way rather than write new code.
