It is not clear if the Hylafax server has malfunctioned or the modem has
malfunctioned. If 'nothing has changed' on the server side, then my first
test would be to look at the modem and see if the modem is wedged because
of a electronics glitch or an electronic failure. Power cycle the modem is
an easy first test to see if the electronics has locked up. If still no
joy, then you want to diagnose the modem, you may want to connect it to a
windoz machine that runs the windows FAX program (or a similar app) or a
linux box that runs Efax-gtk (or an appropriate fax app). Test the receive
and send capability.
You could also connect to it via a dos or terminal window and manually
exercise the AT command set and see if it provides the proper responses.
HP offers a FAX test service...connect to it via a browser and tell it the
number to dial and see if the fax will answer and receive the fax. There
is also a loop back test that will send the fax back to hp....(IIRC).
I don't remember the number of the service but google will help there.
Good luck
John
