I’m sorry for the bother. I think I’ve found the problem although I don’t
know the solution.

I also have avantfax installed and I can send faxes from avantfax, I can see
faxgetty running and the modem resets fine (although too slowly I think?)

However when I used the command line “sendfax -n -d 111.111.1111
/etc/hosts, the faxgetty went away and faxstat responded with “ready and
idle”. No fax went out. I then tried sending from avantfax and faxgetty
“came on” and the modem was reset properly. Fax went out.

So the problem is faxgetty and running from cmd? Any thoughts?

Thanks again,

Thank you. Config file did not make a difference and here is the output of
probemodem. Also realized that faxgetty is not starting.

Also tried Hylafax+ -

# systemctl status hylafax-faxgetty@ttyUSB0 -l > faxgetty.txt

# cat faxgetty.txt

I have installed hylafax numerous times and I can’t get it to work due to a
wedge modem. Basically I can send one fax and then wedged forever.

I installed the following:

hylafax-server-6.0.6-1rhel7.x86_64.rpm

hylafax-client-6.0.6-1rhel7.x86_64.rpm

Running centos 7 with 3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64

Modem is USR 5686G

I’ve seen mention of hylafax+…Is that what I need. Help and TIA.

The differences between what you're using and HylaFAX+ will probably not
resolve your problem directly.

Chances are that your USR modem is exhibiting some problem due to a
misconfiguration. USR modems are a bit quirky and can require unique
configurations.

The 5686G model number seems to be a new one for us, and maybe you ended up
with a bad modem config file. Probably what you want is something close to
this:

https://sourceforge.net/p/hylafax/HylaFAX+/HEAD/tree/trunk/config/usr-xon

However, if that doesn't work for you please post the output of 'probemodem'
against your modem.

If you really want to try HylaFAX+ then you can get it from EPEL:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

After EPEL is enabled then you'd 'yum install hylafax+'.

But, again, I don't think that you should look to that as a resolution for
the problem you're having.

Thanks,

Lee.
