What version of HylaFAX are you using? If you cleared your sendq and
started over what did you do different on the second go-around that was
different?
To answer your questions...
1) HylaFAX+ has had some recent improvements and fixes to the faxq FIFO
that will be in the upcoming release. I don't know if you were running
into those issues, though. I've queued 10,000 fax jobs in very rapid
succession without a problem.
2) I remember making a note one time that in the code for the modems
that there is a byte placeholder - which would limit the number of
modems to 255 or 256. I have had 255 modems on one system sending to 255
modems on another system concurrently.
3) The timeouts will happen because faxq or hfaxd are too busy to attend
to the client. You can use the 'sendfax -vv' option to know better.
Also be aware that hfaxd and faxq responsiveness will have to do on your
configuration, too. If you have a very heavy jobcontrol script then faxq
will be sluggish because of it. And, the slower faxq runs the less
attention that it can devote to processing FIFO messages.
