Hmm -- only round brackets in periodical, not in article? I would have
to adapt some functions, but this should be done easily.

jox.bst doesn't know \numberandseries, because it is more hardcoded for
oxford style, but you could redefine \bibsnfont for your needs:
\renewcommand\bibsnfont[1]{(#1)}
